Bringing Francophone Cultures to Your Classroom with Culture en classe
Canadian Parents for French BC & Yukon (CPF), in collaboration with the Government of Canada and the Ministry of Education and Child Care of British Columbia, is excited to present Culture en classe, a new initiative designed to enrich French immersion education across the province.
With Culture en classe, we bring vibrant French-language performances, workshops, and cultural activities directly into your classroom. These events, which range from music concerts and theatre performances to interactive workshops led by francophone artists and educators, offer students an immersive experience that goes beyond traditional language lessons. The goal is to deepen students’ connection to the French language and francophone cultures in a fun and engaging way.
This initiative provides a unique opportunity for schools to enhance their French programs by offering students first-hand exposure to the richness of francophone cultures. Whether you are working with younger children who are just beginning their French language journey or supporting high school students preparing for graduation, Culture en classe makes French learning more exciting and relevant.
Schools can easily participate by hosting a performance or workshop, creating a dynamic learning environment where students can explore the French language through arts and culture. Our team will manage the logistics of scheduling school performances and organizing regional tours, ensuring that the process is smooth and convenient for schools.
Volunteer chapters are encouraged to get involved as well—funding is available specifically for this project, in addition to the existing socio-cultural grants that chapters can access for student activities. This new funding can be combined with socio-cultural grants to cover up to 100% of the costs for school-based visits by French-language performers and workshop providers.
Culture en classe will include performances and workshops throughout the current and upcoming school years.
If you are a school interested in hosting Culture en classe, or a volunteer chapter looking to get involved, we encourage you to reach out and start planning your event today! Contact Chúk Odenigbo to find out how you can take advantage of this opportunity right away.
